Caralluma Fimbriata
HistoryCaralluma Fimbriata is a succulent plant in the family Apocynaceae. It grows in many countries around the world and is currently under cultivation in Africa and India. Caralluma has a similar history to Hoodia in that it has been used for centuries to sustain hunters on long excursions and has been used as a food and appetite suppressant. MechanismThe key phytochemical constituent in Caralluma is Pregnane Glycoside. It is alleged to block the activity of citrate lyase enzymes which reduces the accumulation of fat, thus forcing fat reserves to be burned. Caralluma also works in exactly the same way as Hoodia, by sending a message to the hypothalamus to shut off or limit your hunger switch. ToxicityCaralluma Fimbriata has no known toxicity. Traditional Indian medicine (Ayurvedic) experts claim that there are no adverse effects when using Caralluma Fimbriata. It has a long history of safe ingestion—there have been no adverse reports from centuries of use.
